By the end of this module, you should be able to:
1. List the main components of a battery pack for EV and HEV applications.
2. Describe how battery packs for high voltage electric vehicle applications are designed.
3. Instruct how to assemble cells in series and parallel configurations in battery packs.
4. List the main design steps to design battery packs including: cell configurations, mechanical design, cell protection, and control systems/Battery Management Systems (BMS) design.
5. Clarify the difference between cells, modules and packs and how they are integrate in a battery pack.
6. Describe how to environmentally protect the cells and perform electrical isolation.
7. Explain how to perform short circuit protection and implement an effective fusing strategy.
